Waterfall in Garrawy Glen

The Helensburgh Green Belt Group is a voluntary organisation dedicated to serving the community. Two-way communication with the public is an important aspect of our work.

We publish our newsletter Helensburgh Greenery twice a year to keep the public informed about the local countryside, any planning or other matter that may affect it, specific threats to the Green Belt and what we are doing. 1,000 copies of “Greenery” are printed for each edition.

It is made available locally free of charge by various methods and is posted to a range of organisations such as the Council, local Councillors, the Scottish Government etc. Supplies of Greenery are also maintained in appropriate buildings such as the Library, the Victoria Halls, the Medical Centre, A&BC Office in West Princes Street and the Tourist Office.

Some of the local firms who advertise in Greenery or on this website have a supply available, so why not visit them and see what else they have to offer?

Other Contacts

We are frequently in touch with other local organisations and have members to represent the HGBG on other groups. Occasionally we have produced a special bulletin in conjunction with other local groups on particular subjects.

The views of the public are greatly welcomed, particularly when a development is being proposed in the Green Belt, as these may be justified by the potential benefit to the public (e.g. the new Hermitage Academy, which we supported).
