A&BC Rural Constraints Map

The Finalised Draft Local Plan prepared by Argyll & Bute Council contains Rural Constraints Maps which shows that areas covered by the various planning constraints. That for Helensburgh and Lomond is available through this link - Helensburgh & Lomond Rural Constraints Proposals Map.

 

The Greenbelt is shown as a dark green area with diagonal lines, and is defined in the glossary as :

- a development control zone which under the Argyll and Bute Structure Plan and this local plan, comprises a substantial area of countryside peripheral to the settlements of Cardross, Helensburgh, Rhu and Shandon; within this greenbelt pressure for development is considerable and the development plan policy is to resist urban expansion having regard to: the community value; settlement separation/ setting; urban containment; and countryside management.

Local Nature Conservation Sites are indicated by purple horizontal lines, and defined in the glossary as including:

• Local Nature Reserves

• Regionally Important Geological / Geomorphological Sites

• The former sites of important for nature conservation (SINC)

• Other local wildlife sites

Open Space Protection Areas are indicated by bright green diagonal lines, and defined in the glossary as including:

– areas of valued open space, sports pitches and playing fields as identified in the Proposal Maps of the Local Plan.
